Basic Water Safety and Skills
This class is to familiarize young children to the water and prepare them to learn to swim in the American Red Cross Preschool Aquatics and Learn-to-Swim courses. It is not designed to teach children to become good swimmers or to survive in the water on their own. An adult must get in the pool with the child.
Each class is 30 min. Max enrollment 10.
There will be two sessions of the class, different dates, but it will be the same class each session.
Each session meets 4 Saturdays.
Level 1 Ages: 6-18 months
Saturdays 9:00 - 9:30 a.m.
Saturdays: 9:35 - 10:05 a.m.
Classes are the same but at different times; please register for one class only
and make sure to indicate the age (date of birth) of your child when registering
Level 2 Ages: 19 - 35 months
Saturdays 10:10 - 10:40 a.m.
Saturdays: 10:45 - 11:15 a.m.
Class 3 & 4 are same class but at different time; please register for 1 class
only and make sure you indicate the age (date of birth) of your child when registering
Additional Class Information
The closest available parking is in the Mountainlair Garage. Due to special events on campus, parking may be limited at certain times. Parking is also available in the metered spaces and other parking lots around the downtown campus.
Entrance to the EMH pool is a side door located along the right hand side of the building (through black garden gates).
Children who are not potty trained must wear a swim diaper underneath their bathing suits. Adults should wear bathing suite/swim trunks. Children may bring swim goggles if desired, and all other equipment will be provided.
You may bring a towel and change of clothes to classes/lessons. Locker rooms are available for changing before and after class.
We do not allow make up classes due to illness or schedule conflicts. We only make up classes that are cancelled or postponed by WVU Lifetime Activities.
