WVU Lifetime Activities hosts Aquatic Institute

|

The Aquatic Institute 2017 blends a broad range of learning environments. Several of the classes offered are part of an aquatic facility management minor offered through WVU. Individuals may also complete courses for non-credit instruction, to either secure new certifications or renew existing ones.

Become certified and get a job as a lifeguard, swimming instructor and/or aquatic facility manager. Many colleges and universities will need qualified personnel for student recreation and aquatic programs. Community programming groups will need lifeguards for recreational pools and water parks.

Students will complete much of the course content online with skills assessments on weekends or evenings. Certification will require completion of all written assignments, practical skills and certification tests. Students may earn certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and National Swimming Pool Foundation Certified Pool Operator.

Pre-registration is required. Space is limited in each class and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants must meet all established course requirements to obtain a certification. Students will participate in pool training at the WVU Natatorium and assigned classrooms.
